Sammendrag · Poster Abstract

The FJORD Framework (Flexible, Journey-Oriented, Remote Design) emerges from Norway as a practical, team-based approach to educational course design for online and blended higher education.

Background & Purpose

Derived from international learning design methodologies (such as ABC Learning Design and Carpe Diem) and adapted to Nordic higher education governance and workload frameworks, FJORD guides academic teams through a structured process from administrative framing to weekly student learning journeys.

Core Principles

  • Student-Centered Workload Budgeting: Translating ECTS credits into realistic student work hours across reading, lectures, collaborative activities, and assessment.
  • Visual Storyboarding: Mapping the learning journey across themes, learning activities, teacher presence, media resources, and formative/summative assessment checkpoints.
  • Collaborative Shared Language: Shifting course development from solitary syllabus writing to a facilitated, collegial design process.
